Welcome and hello!

I just thought it might be nice to have a comm, and a few other people thought that too, so here we are.

We'll make rules as we need them. At this point, let's just stick to the principles as best we can.

Let me know if you just want to talk religious thoughts and congregational life (which may be unrelated) or if you would like me to do a little prompting, SGM-style?

I haven't been to a service in years, so this comm makes me hopeful and wistful all at once.

I miss chalice lighting and the aftermath, when people come up to share their joys and concerns and light a candle for each. I miss the music--oh god the music (1/3 of the congregation I grew up in were professional or very serious amateur musicians--we had so much amazing music), and coffee hour. I miss feeling like the congregation was just one big religious support group for our own individual searches for truth.

It would make me very happy if there was space for sharing joys and concerns, music, food recipes, and interesting texts here, especially if it was a weekly thing. Perhaps a regular Sunday Coffee Hour post?

Thank you for starting this up.

p.s. was much amused to discover this UU joke the other morning. There's a random name generator based off of it.

Brother Gatling Gun of Patience notes that he's pretty sure the world is out to get him because everyone laughs when he says he is a Unitarian. There were murmurs of assent around the room, and someone suggested that we buy some Congress members and really stick it to the Baptists. But this was deemed against Revolutionary Principles, and Brother Gatling Gun of Patience was remanded to the Sunday Flowers and Banners committee.
OMG, am loling forever. Thanks for sharing this!!
